Our History
Fazley® was founded in 1992 by John Smith, a lifelong musician and luthier. As a young man, John loved playing guitar but was frustrated by the lack of quality instruments available to amateur players. He began crafting his own guitars in his parents’ basement workshop, striving to create beautiful, resonant, and easy-to-play guitars for musicians of all levels.
Word of John’s skills spread locally, and he started receiving commissions for custom-built guitars. In 1992, John officially established Fazley® Guitars and opened a small workshop. We began selling handmade acoustic and electric guitars, offering customers high-end boutique instruments at fair prices.
Over the next decade, Fazley® steadily grew. We expanded our workshop and brought talented luthiers onto our team, allowing us to increase production while retaining our focus on hand-craftsmanship. In 2005, we launched our website and began online sales, providing access to Fazley® guitars to players worldwide.
As our reputation flourished, famous musicians began playing Fazley® guitars and praising their quality. In 2010, we opened our flagship store in Nashville, TN, giving us a brick-and-mortar presence in America’s music capital. We also diversified our catalog, adding premium banjos, basses, mandolins, ukuleles, and digital pianos.
Today, Fazley® is renowned worldwide for exceptional musical instruments. From our humble beginnings in a basement workshop, we have grown into a global leader in handcrafted guitars, with over 100 employees and distribution in over 50 countries. We remain committed to building instruments of extraordinary playability, tone, and beauty.

Our Banjos
In addition to our acclaimed guitars, Fazley® makes professional-grade banjos for players of all styles.
Our 5-string banjos include versatile models like the Fazley® Bluegrass with its crisp, cutting tone perfect for rolls and leads. The Fazley® Openback lets players craft warm, mellow tones for folk and country.
4-string banjos, aka tenor banjos, are ideal for jazz, Irish music, and more. The Fazley® Tenor features a maple neck and patented tailpiece for superior sustain and quick response.
All our banjos feature handmade maple rims, quality Remo heads, and engraved armrests. We use sturdy hardware like Our37 tuners to keep your instrument sounding its best. Premium electronics come standard on our electric banjo models for amplified performance.

We source premium solid woods like mahogany, maple, spruce and rosewood from managed forests and ethical suppliers. Our neck woods are kiln-dried and aged properly to ensure stability and tone. For strings, we use reputable manufacturers like D’Addario and Elixir.
From raw materials to final inspection, we follow strict quality control. Our luthiers are rigorously trained and many have decades of experience constructing, repairing, and setting up instruments. We stand behind every Fazley® product with a satisfaction guarantee.
